About Pro-Test

Pro-Test Deutschland e.V. is a non-profit organisation (als gemeinnützig anerkannt) founded in 2015. It has a (mostly) German-language website at https://weareprotest.org, with an English version planned. Want to help?

  • almost 100 members in dozens of places across Germany, as well as a few international members
  • members are students, animal caretakers, vets, and other researchers willing to share their experience with lab animals either openly or anonymously (by personal choice)
  • staffed and led by volunteers only, no employees, no offices
  • no funding other than small private donations (~3.500 euros/year)

Pro-Test pursues two major aims:

  • to communicate openly our own individual attitude towards and our personal experience with lab animals – what do we actually do, and how did we come to the conclusion that it may be ethically justified?
  • to communicate openly the limitations of, mistakes in, and necessary improvements to animal experiments; create awareness among our peers, and look for ways to make change happens

Besides media interviews, public events and conference contributions, Pro-Test runs an online series of symposia called “Unsuck Your Science”, held in irregular intervals (whenever our members find the time to organise them, really): https://www.pro-test-deutschland.de/unsuck-your-science-2024/
